When it rains, it pours

Word reached him, carried swiftly through his network of spies set up around the island. The plant-folk were not content to stay put, even though they had yet to defeat the northern monkey tribe. Sightings of the abominations filtered through to him, troubling reports of the monsters behaving unusually, ignoring what would probably be prime dwelling sites and concentrating on ancient sites. A cold wave of realization struck him as he pieced the reports together… They were searching for something. Finally, the report he was waiting for arrived; the plant-folk had begun to establish a nest. He sent word to the chief, this was a threat they must deal with directly, something even more important than the shipwrecked long-legs and their fort of twigs.
